Quote of the Day

"Art washes away from the soul, the dust of everyday life"- Random quote I saw in Charlotte, NC

Quote of the Day:

"Let me jus tsay, I love grunge, I love the 90's, I love Kurt Cobain. But when you look like you shoplifted from Urban Outfitters, it's best to rethink your outfit."- Joe Zee, Elle-July 2009

Quote[s] of the Day

So, as much as I love fashionista, I beg to differ with their concurrence of Cathy Horn's opinion on the Valentino Couture collection. Ready to wear is aspirational for much of society, ergo haute couture is a fantasy that rarely is attainable by regular folks like myself. With that said, I disagree with you Cathy Horn and You, Fashionista, couture is fantasy, the more ostentatious the better, so hmph to you both. John Paul Gaultier had croc overalls and sable coats for christ's sake.

“They have no feeling for the actuality of life, no sense of a lived experience, and frankly I’d be worried about getting too close to one of those prickly, encrusted numbers. You might get a rash.” -Cathy Horyn on the dresses at Valentino. Man we wish she blogged every single day."

You Don't Eat, You Don't Work via style.com

This has to be my favorite image of the day. My mom always said "you don't work, you don't eat" but in the case of models for Givenchy's Haute Couture show the saying was moreso, you don't eat, you don't work. I love it.

"Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare" -- Japanese Proverb

Quote of the Day: Only Fitting

"I'm starting with the man in the mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways, and no message could have been any clearer if you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change"- "Man in the Mirror", Michael Jackson

A Black Girl in Paris: Revisited Quote of the Day

This was my favorite quote that I stumbled upon while living in Paris. I found it once again relevant today:

"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."- Helen Keller
